Rich in its history, the hotel consists of 44 guest rooms and has a special emphasis on maintaining its original architecture and historical value. The hotel has attracted large numbers of domestic and international tourists thoughout the years and has greatly supported Malang as a tourist destination.
The Shalimar will offer its guests the comfort of the new millennium in the grandeur of the '30s, bringing together European modern flair and Indonesian culture to create a memorable experience. It sets to deliver outstanding personalised services for both leisure and business guests in tradition of graceful Indonesian hospitality
Originally built by the architect Ir. Muller for the Freemasons, the building was opened for the first time in 1933. After the Freemasons, the building became a "SOCIETEIT" where the Dutch and the Dutch speaking community of Malang come to meet friends and entertain themselves with food, music and dancing.
In 1964 the building housed the Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) Malang, but was soon outgrown.
In 1993 Malang Inn was opened. However, in 1995, a new law came about where establishments were no longer allowed to use foreign names and this is how The Graha Cakra was established.
Mid 2014 The Graha Cakra closed its doors to undergo a thorough renovation to become what it is now, a 5 star boutique hotel.
It now houses de Hemel restaurant, Zestien terrace & lounge, De Tjakra Hall, Taman Aroem Spa and Soga Boutique.

Upon room reservation confirmation, 100% of total amount must be paid (proof of credit card number)
CANCELLATION POLICY
In the event of any postponement or cancellation, the hotel will require a formal notification in writing by email through the reservation team, at the latest:
- Two (2) weeks prior to the date of booking during peak season (August – December)
- One (1) week prior to the date of booking during high season (April – July)
- Three (3) days prior to the date of booking during low season (January- March)
Otherwise this will be treated as a no-show.
NO SHOW POLICY
In the case of a no-show, any payments made towards the room reservation will be non-refundable.
